Common Questions

FAQs

Printing and sublimation apply ink on top of the surface — it degrades with washing, UV exposure, and daily use. Most printed bottles fade within 6–12 months. Laser engraving physically removes material from the stainless steel, creating a permanent mark that cannot fade, peel, or wash off. It survives dishwashers and daily use indefinitely.

UV printing uses ultraviolet light to cure ink directly onto the surface, producing vibrant full-color designs with gradients, photos, and complex artwork. Our 5D UV wrap technology curves the print seamlessly around the product. UV prints are durable and scratch-resistant (3–5+ years), while laser engraving is the most permanent option (lifetime). Choose engraving for permanence, UV for full-color impact.

Your Bottle Is Stainless Steel. Why Isn't Your Lid?

Look at any Hydro Flask, YETI, or Stanley. The bottle is stainless steel. The lid — the part that actually touches your lips every time you drink — is plastic. Plastic that scratches, stains, cracks in cold Canadian winters, and harbors bacteria in its micro-grooves. The Robson made a different choice. The lid is stainless steel too.

Their Lid Is Plastic. Ours Isn't.

The lid is the part you drink from. The Robson lid is full stainless steel with a BPA-free silicone seal. No plastic components. Nothing to crack, warp, stain, or harbor bacteria. Every other major bottle brand makes the same compromise on the lid — we didn't. Available in 13 colors. Free laser engraving included.

"I've gone through 3 Hydro Flasks. Every single one, the plastic lid cracked within a year — one cracked in a Canadian winter after just a few months. Found the Robson and the stainless steel lid sold me immediately. Two years in — lid looks brand new. Should have switched sooner."

— Mark D., Toronto

~500 Microplastic Particles. Per Twist.

A peer-reviewed study found that twisting a plastic bottle cap releases ~500 microplastic particles per opening. Open your bottle 5 times a day — that's 2,500 microplastic particles going into your water. Daily. Stainless steel doesn't shed particles. It doesn't degrade. The Robson lid is the same 18/8 food-grade steel as the bottle.

One Hand. One Motion. Fits Every Cup Holder.

The silicone carry loop lets you grab the Robson from desk, car, or gym bag without looking. 2.8 inches wide — fits standard cup holders in cars, trucks, and SUVs. 21oz of capacity without the bulk. The daily driver that fits everywhere your day takes you.

"The steel lid is what made me buy this over the Hydro Flask. My coffee doesn't taste like plastic anymore. And the engraving with my initials? My coworkers keep asking where I got it. Best $40 I've spent."

— Sarah L., Vancouver

What Other Bottle Owners Wish They Knew

Hydro Flask Standard Mouth 21oz — $50-60 CAD. Plastic lid. Their warranty page has an entire section dedicated to broken caps.

YETI Rambler 26oz — $55+ CAD. Plastic lid. More expensive, same compromise on the part that touches your lips.

Stanley IceFlow 24oz — Plastic lid. Recall history. 2.6 million mugs pulled for lid failure in 2024.

All three: plastic lids. All three: the same problem on the part that matters most.

Robson 21oz: $40 CAD. Steel lid. Free engraving. Lifetime warranty. The choice that doesn't make the same compromise.

Questions About the Steel Lid

Is the lid really stainless steel? Not just coated plastic?

Yes. The lid is solid stainless steel with a BPA-free silicone seal for leak-proofing. There are zero plastic components in the lid. This is one of the key differences between the Robson and virtually every other insulated bottle on the market — including Hydro Flask, YETI, and Stanley, which all use plastic lids.

What about the microplastics study?

A peer-reviewed study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology found that twisting and opening plastic bottle caps releases microplastic particles — approximately 500 per opening. These particles are too small to see but enter your water. The only way to eliminate this source of microplastic exposure is to eliminate the plastic. That's what the Robson does.

Does the steel lid affect the taste of my water?

Positively. Stainless steel is non-reactive and doesn't impart any flavor to your water. Plastic lids, especially as they age and develop micro-scratches, can give water a slight plastic taste. Many Robson owners report their water tastes "cleaner" — that's the absence of plastic, not a feature we added.

Will it fit in my car cup holder?

Yes. The Robson is 2.8 inches wide — designed to fit standard cup holders in cars, trucks, and SUVs. We tested it in 15 different vehicles during development.

How does the free engraving work?

Add your engraving details during checkout using the engraving options above. Your name, initials, date, or short message — laser-engraved directly into the steel. It's permanent, won't fade or peel, and it's completely free with every bottle.

Is it really dishwasher safe?

Yes. Both the bottle and the stainless steel lid are top-rack dishwasher safe. Because the lid is steel (not plastic), it won't warp, crack, or degrade in the dishwasher. Place the lid in the open position for best results. The engraving is laser-engraved and completely dishwasher-proof.

How is this different from a Hydro Flask or YETI?

The biggest difference is the lid. Hydro Flask, YETI, and Stanley all use plastic lids. The Robson uses stainless steel. Beyond that: free laser engraving (not a $15-25 add-on), lifetime warranty (not 5 years), 13 colors, handcrafted in Calgary (not mass-produced overseas), and $40 CAD.

What if it breaks?

Lifetime warranty. If anything goes wrong with the materials or craftsmanship, we replace it. No receipt required, no time limit. Email us and we'll ship a replacement.
